West End Divers is located in the center of West End, and is a short trip from the cruise ship terminals. Each day we offer three dive trips, at 9:00 am, 11:30 am, and at 2:30 pm. With advanced notice, some schedule variations are possible. With four boats, we are able to keep our groups small. We offer several packages for our cruise ship visitors — those with scuba certification, or those who are new to the sport and would like to experience diving. For the non-divers in your group we would be pleased to recommend other activities on Roatan.

Package Pricing

West End Divers three diving opportunities for you and your group, depending upon the time you have to spend, and your personal preferences.

From the Coxen Hole Terminal, our packages include round trip transportation to our dive center, all the scuba equipment you need to enjoy your dive, a fee to help support the Roatan Marine Park, and an experienced Divemaster or Instructor to lead your group. Since most of the dive sites are a 10 to 15 minute boat ride from our dock, we return to the shop after each dive.

In an effort to avoid the confusion and crowding you may have noticed at your other ports of call, the Carnival Corporation has restricted access to the Mahogany Bay Terminal. Since you will have to obtain an approved taxi from this terminal, the package pricing does not include transportation to our dive center in West End.

For certified divers who have been diving recently and are comfortable in the water we offer two alternatives. If you want to dive and experience some of the other island attractions we offer a single dive package. If you would rather spend more time exploring the reef, then the two dive package is for you.

Discover Scuba

If you have never been diving, and would like to experience the wonders of the underwater world, then the PADI Discover Scuba Diving program is for you. One of our Certified PADI Instructors will introduce you to scuba diving in a highly supervised and relaxed manner. Here you will learn the basic safety concepts, become familiar with scuba equipment, and dive the reef with one of our attentive PADI Instructors. Your instructor will accompany you during a dive on the reef as a mentor and buddy.

Other Activities

For the non-divers in your group there are many other activities available to provide them with an enjoyable day. There are great snorkeling sites, horseback riding, island tours, treetop adventures, massages, yoga, great food, and fun shopping. If you are interested in any of these activities please contact us for more information. For these individuals we can provide transportation to and from the Coxen Hole cruise ship terminal to our dive center in West End, and make arrangements for them from there.

To ensure you arrive at West End Divers in a safe and timely manner, reservations are recommended. We will need to make the proper arrangements with our driver to accommodate you.

At this point we will confirm your reservation and send you instructions on how to make your deposit. Once the deposit has been made we will confirm, by email, that it has been received.

Since we provide all the scuba gear you need, unless you prefer to use your own, you only need to bring your swimming wear, certification card, and a towel. As we are in the tropics, where the sun can be quite intense, consider bringing; sun glasses, sun screen, insect spray, a hat, comfortable clothes, and walking shoes.

(As it is a PADI standard we verify your status as a diver, please bring your certification card, or log book with you.)

Payment Types

For payment we accept cash and all major credit cards. For credit card payments, we use PayPal and a 5% service fee will be added to your bill. For deposits made before you leave home we will accept payments from your PayPal account.

The US dollar is readily accepted at all locations in Roatan. However, it is recommended that you bring denominations of $20 or less to make your purchases. Often when paying in dollars you will receive Lempiras in change, please note the exchange rate is approximately 18.5 Lempiras to the dollar.

Tipping and Taxes

When purchasing meals and gift items, you may be required to pay a 12% sales tax and a 4% tourism tax. Many of the restaurants add a tip (propina) to your bill so check to see if it has been included. All employees in West End (including our staff), are dependent upon earning tips for their livelihood. If you receive good service and a friendly attitude, you are encouraged to tip the individual. Acceptable tips in Roatan are in the 10 to 12% range.
